Rosie's Birth Story
Rosie's Birth Story! ๐โโ
Saturday, October 13, 2018 I woke up feeling normal! I relaxed most of the day, took a bath and set up my Flexispot bike. I used it for 30 minutes while I checked some emails and then sat on my exercise ball. I started feeling cramping/contractions around 3:00pm but I wasn’t concerned because I’ve had a few false alarms. So I started making dinner for later that night.
By 4:30pm I knew things were progressing...and fast! We called Ayla’s grandpa and I started timing my contractions. They were about 3 minutes apart and we’re getting stronger. My doula was already at the hospital and our room was ready for us when we got there.
We didn’t get to the hospital until 5:45pm and I was 5cm dilated. My contractions were unbearable and I had to be standing and leaning on the bed. The nurse thought I was having back labor because of Rosie’s positioning. I was SO nauseous and dizzy in between contractions. We ordered an epidural and waited for an IV. The nurses had a lot of trouble finding a vein for an IV. It took 2 hours, 3 nurses and 7 attempts before I finally got an IV waited for the epidural.
By this point I was 7cm dilated. I am so happy to say that the epidural worked ๐๐ผ๐ I got it around 7:45pm and was able to have some relief. I had the shakes pretty bad but I was able to rest for a couple hours without feeling my contractions.
Around 9:15pm I felt her moving lower and knew it was almost time. By 9:50pm I was 10 cm dilated and ready to push! The pushing felt like it took forever but I only pushed for 8 minutes ๐๐ผ .
I had Justin by my side the entire time along with my mom, sister & doula ๐ I’m so grateful that this labor went smoothly and it was MUCH quicker than Ayla’s! ๐๐ผ We are so happy to have Rosie in our arms โค๏ธ and I can’t believe weave was inside of me for the last 9 months! What a miracle ๐
We stayed at the hospital Saturday and Sunday night before leaving on Monday. While we were there we had a few visitors stop by to meet Rosie. Our nurses and care staff were great and we were so grateful for all of the love and support from our family and friends!
Now we are home and all settled in as a family of 4! I am exclusively breastfeeding Rosie. I will share a newborn update soon!! Stay tuned!
